         ​​As the 2025-26 School Year winds down, I have had the

honor of visiting 8 different schools! The Author Visits,

Literacy Events, and Festivals have given me the chance to

chat with over 1,000 students.   

      The schools have ranged from big to small, rural to

'inner city, public to private, and from all different counties.

Yet the common threads cannot be ignored.

      When students have the chance to read entire pieces of

literature, they think more deeply, ask more insightful

questions, make powerful connections, and analyze concepts

in ways that they cannot when reading isolated excerpts.

       To all the teachers and media specialist out there

working so hard to get books into the hands of students,

THANK YOU!

       Books are so powerful. They inform, entertain, comfort,

challenge, and surprise us! They are where we can imagine,

wonder, empathize, and explore. They allow us to see

ourselves, see possibilities, and see others. 

       Books matter!!!!!
